DroidDeck supported devices and GPU compatibility
DroidDeck supported devices come down to one thing: the GPU. DroidDeck needs a recent Qualcomm Adreno graphics chip. Here is what the official documentation says works, what is experimental and what does not work.
Short answer. Android 9 or newer, with an Adreno 730 or newer, or any Adreno 8xx. Adreno 6xx is experimental. Mali, Xclipse, PowerVR and the Adreno 710 are not supported.
DroidDeck supported devices by GPU
| GPU | Status | What the documentation says |
|---|---|---|
| Adreno 8xx | Supported | Listed as supported. |
| Adreno 730 and newer 7xx | Supported | The stated minimum is “730 or newer”. |
| Adreno 6xx | Experimental | Added in version 0.3.2. DirectX 11 uses DXVK 2 and may run. DirectX 12 games can still crash. |
| Adreno 710 | Not supported | Named explicitly as unsupported. |
| Mali | Not supported | Named explicitly as unsupported. |
| Xclipse | Not supported | Named explicitly as unsupported. |
| PowerVR | Not supported | Named explicitly as unsupported. |

What that means for common chips
The documentation talks about GPUs, not phone models. This table maps well-known Snapdragon chips to their GPU so you can place your device. The chip-to-GPU pairs are Qualcomm’s published specifications; whether DroidDeck supports each one follows from the rule above.
| Chipset | GPU | DroidDeck status |
|---|---|---|
| Snapdragon 8 Elite | Adreno 830 | Supported range |
| Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 | Adreno 750 | Supported range |
| Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 | Adreno 740 | Supported range |
| Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and 8+ Gen 1 | Adreno 730 | Supported, the minimum |
| Snapdragon 888 | Adreno 660 | Experimental |
| Snapdragon 865 and 870 | Adreno 650 | Experimental |
| Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 | Adreno 710 | Not supported |
| Samsung Exynos | Xclipse or Mali | Not supported |
| MediaTek Dimensity | Arm Mali or Immortalis | Not supported (not Adreno) |
| Google Tensor | Mali or PowerVR | Not supported |
“Supported range” means the GPU meets the documented requirement. It is not a promise that every game runs well. The developers say themselves that compatibility and performance vary by device and that hardware validation is limited.
Android handhelds and DroidDeck
DroidDeck is built with Android gaming handhelds in mind. The release notes talk about handhelds throughout, include features for dual-screen handhelds, and version 0.4.0 adds handling for foldables. The same GPU rule applies: a handheld with an Adreno 730 or newer is in the supported range, and one with an Adreno 6xx is experimental. Version 0.3.2 names the Adreno 650 in the Retroid Pocket 5 as an example of the newly added 6xx support.
Other DroidDeck requirements
- Android version: Android 9 or newer.
- Root: not required.
- Storage: about 3 GB for the runtime and about 1.1 GB more for the desktop and emulators, before any games.
- A system setting: “Restrict child processes” must be off in Developer options. The install guide explains how.
How DroidDeck handles GPU drivers
From version 0.3.0, DroidDeck has a GPU drivers tab. It detects your GPU and keeps a matched pair of runtime and display drivers installed for it, including the project’s own DD-Turnip builds. You can switch it to Manual and pick a pair yourself. If a supported device performs badly, this tab is the first place to look.
If your phone throttles DroidDeck
Some phones reserve their top performance mode for apps they recognise, such as well-known games or benchmark apps. For that reason each release includes alternative DroidDeck APK files with different package names. They are the same app. The download page explains when to use them.
Game compatibility on DroidDeck
There is no official list of games that work on DroidDeck. Results depend on the chip, the driver, the Proton version and the game. Version 0.4.0 added per-game compatibility profiles and automatic installs of Windows components a game needs, which should reduce manual setup. This guide does not publish a list of “working” games, because any such list would be a guess for most devices. Device reports are collected by the community in the DroidDeck Discord.
DroidDeck device questions
Does DroidDeck work on Snapdragon 8 Gen 2?
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 uses the Adreno 740, which is newer than the Adreno 730 the documentation gives as the minimum, so it falls in the supported range. A release screenshot from the project shows the GPU drivers tab on an Adreno 740.
Does DroidDeck work on Samsung Exynos phones?
No. Exynos chips use Xclipse or Mali graphics, and the documentation lists both as unsupported.
Does DroidDeck work on MediaTek phones?
MediaTek Dimensity chips use Arm Mali or Immortalis graphics. DroidDeck needs a Qualcomm Adreno GPU, and the documentation lists Mali as unsupported.
Does DroidDeck work on the Retroid Pocket 5?
Version 0.3.2 added Adreno 6xx support and names the Adreno 650 in the Retroid Pocket 5 as an example. Adreno 6xx is described as experimental.
Why is the Adreno 710 not supported?
The documentation lists the Adreno 710 as unsupported and does not give a reason. Its number is higher than 6xx, but it is a mid-range GPU, so do not assume a bigger number means support.
How do I find out which GPU my phone has?
Search for your phone model and “GPU”, or check the chipset in Settings under About phone and look up its GPU. Since version 0.3.2, DroidDeck also has a device report that shows the SoC, GPU, CPU, Vulkan and driver information.
